Six Projects

On March 12, I joined about 200 other folks at BookNet Canada’s 2009 Tech Forum, where all things digital were on the table. There were a number of good presentations, including those from Stanza’s Neelan Choksi and O’Reilly Media’s Andrew Savikis on the future of book publishing (the full set can be found here).

The highlight of the day for me came just before lunch, when Michael Tamblyn covered a 262-slide (!) presentation in 30 minutes (breathe, Michael, breathe!). Long on show, yes, but he made a compelling, practical case for real change in six aspects of the book business (my favorite, though not the most important, was a call for developing “an XML workflow that doesn’t suck”. As I wrote on Twitter, highly recommended. And be sure to put BNC Tech Forum on your calendar for 2010.
