Last week, The Atlantic announced a deal that will give Kindle owners the opportunity to buy short stories that have been selected and edited by the staff at the magazine.
I just like this idea. It potentially opens up a market for a writing form that has relatively few outlets, offers writers and publishers a near-term revenue opportunity, and it encourages reading among people who may want a break from long-form fiction (or a reason to not fear it!).
And .. curation! The staff at The Atlantic pitch in, and the low price point and instant access makes it easier to just say “yes”. I am thinking this will make Kat Meyer very happy.
