Recently, GalleyCat and SMITH Magazine teamed up to hold a six-word memoir contest themed to “mothers and daughters” and “fathers and sons”. Naturally, the contest closed on Mothers’ Day.
It happens that I, well … I won.
So this Wednesday evening, I am joining a group of published authors and others at an event SMITH Magazine calls “I am turning into my mother”.
They are giving me a chance to read the winning six-word memoir and provide a bit of the backstory. Relatives among us, relax: I’m going with something reasonably humorous.
If you’re interested, the event is inexpensive ($10), open to the public and (I am told) warm and embracing. Well, we can hope.
