Don Linn, posting at Bait ‘n’ Beer, called on publishers to focus on the “unremarkable”:
- Developing and implementing XML workflows (the tools for “write once, read many“);
- Investing in digital asset management platforms; and
- Making clean and consistent metadata a core component of a publisher’s content workflows.
Although Linn’s post rotates around a conversation I was lucky to hear, his thinking on these issues stretches back much further. He rightly points out that we don’t make content for devices, or eras. Our targets are broader, and elsewhere.
