Via Twitter, I came across a Mediabistro post, “5 Twitter secrets to become highly visible in your niche“. Its (expected) recommendations include:
- use a Twitter client;
- understand how Twitter search works;
- use lists;
- use search and directories; and
- schedule your tweets.
I understand the five, even the last, but “scheduling my tweets” reminded me of the “sixth secret” that many frequent Tweeters forget: engage with your community. The best-scheduled robot is still a robot.
Around the same time that the Mediabistro post was tweeted, a colleague was lamenting those book publishers who ask for feedback but never acknowledge those who send it. If you really want to rise above the noise on Twitter, you might try broadcasting a little less.
